MPS' Office of Student Engagement organizes district wide free chess tournaments each year. These are optional events and you can find more information here.
The Walker Library features a Kids Chess Club every other Saturday. This is part of a broader set of chess activities for all ages throughout the Hennepin County Library. Reportedly great coaching and some strong kids attending.
One of our parents recommended the St. Louis Park summer chess camp based on positive experiences of their camper in summer 2024. As of Sep 4, 2024, their web site appears to be in a state of disrepair but this may be something to look into come spring!
I'm told this is run through Minneapolis Community Education. As of September 18, 2024, I don't see it posted there yet.
